The Inegma Consulting story

My name is Kenneth Fry and I am the principal of Inegma Consulting.

Inegma Consulting is a boutique firm in Calgary that partners with solopreneurs and small businesses with up to 40 employees.

Inegma exists to improve my client’s condition by guiding them on the journey to becoming one of not many.

A business that is one of not many will attract and retain loyal customers by standing out in a crowded market. Being different is the foundation for strategy and the key to sustaining long term growth.

In addition to helping my client differentiate, I also aim to become a consigliere and provide value throughout an enduring relationship.

Now that you have a better understanding of Inegma, I will share some history of my journey to starting the firm.

I began working in the financial services industry in 1999 as a sales representative.  Within one year, I set a record for most sales.  Between 2000 – 2005 I continued to work in sales from April to August as I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria.  During this time, I also helped my employer build their first website.

In 2002, I began collecting sneakers.  After I graduated, my passion for sneakers bloomed into a full time wholesale brokerage.  In my biggest deal, I imported 400 rare pairs of sneakers from Brazil and sold them to a buyer in Japan.  Netting $60,000 from the transaction, I used the experience and proceeds to pursue my business acumen at a Masters of Business Administration program in Monaco.

The highlight of my experience at graduate school was my capstone course on business strategy.  The course was taught in conjunction with Harvard Business School and Michael Porter.  Michael Porter is considered the father of modern business strategy and his case studies ignited my desire to become a strategy expert. I gained invaluable experience on the foundation of strategy.

Upon graduating in 2008, in the midst of the financial collapse, I arrived back in Canada with few prospects for employment.  I reached out to my previous employer where I was a sales representative and returned as a full time employee in the spring of 2009.

Over the course of the next 15 years, I gained invaluable experience across all business functions at a subsidiary of a public company. 

A highlight of those years was the early adoption and introduction of Inbound Marketing that I initiated in 2013 and my development of a new business model. The model created meaningful and sustained differentiation in our services and distribution. 

After successfully and consistently creating value for the business, I became president in 2017 and embarked on a mission to further transform the business.

During my tenure as president, I improved returns to shareholders by 300%.  Driven primarily by a complete digital transformation, I established the business as the market leader in our space. 

Over 60,000 business owners across Canada purchased our service and over 10,000 advisors had distributed our service. 

I was able to implement technology to successfully scale the business and increased transaction volume by 600% while reducing our staff count by 50%.

At the time of my departure, the business had a 4.8/5 ranking on Google with over 500 reviews.  Feedback was primarily centered on the exceptional customer experience and an easy to use platform which is uncommon in the insurance space. 

After executing my strategy and realizing my vision for the business, I exited the industry to look for new challenges. 

I created Inegma Consulting to pursue my passion for strategy and provide a platform to share my knowledge with solopreneurs and small businesses.
